Located near the Gulf of Burgas, it is the largest city in the south-east of Bulgaria, occupying four terraces 2-3 meters high. The port of Burgas is the most essential Bulgarian port.
The history of Burgas is more than 2,000 years old. The city was originated as a Roman settlement named Kulata. In XIX century Burgas was destroyed by fire and rose from ashes to become an administrative, economic and cultural center of Bulgaria.
A nice combination of the sea, sun and rich vegetation makes Burgas attractive for many travelers. Moreover, the city is distinguished by a special artistic atmosphere. Only here you can listen to songs and rhythms of the Balkans during the International Folkloric Festival. And only here you can enjoy flowers and aromas of the National Flower Exhibition “FLORA - Burgas” with the “Nature – Man – Harmony” motto.
